Abstract
This article analyzes the way in which Blancanieves, directed by Pablo Berger, offers a critical look at bullfighting and its symbolic imaginary, through the representation and subversion of stereotypical motifs associated with Spanish folklore. While it is true that the film questions these stereotypes as a way to rethink the social weight of an institution established around a sacrificial rite, in certain sequences of the film, we will see how the traditional dynamics of animal discrimination continue to operate. The last part of the article will be reserved to evaluate this contradiction.
