Abstract
Hispanic-Argentinian playwright and director Rodrigo García has recurrently either featured or mentioned animals in his work, not only at a textual level but also at a performative one. Beyond the controversy his methods have oftentimes aroused, there lays the fact that such characteristics are an integral part of his theatrical poetics. The presence of animals onstage not only draws on theater’s condition as a ‘live’ phenomenon; it moreover fleshes out the notion of chirography in movement, always unpredictable, an alphabet in process, an animated calligraphy.
