Resumen
El teatro burlesco tuvo gran éxito en Canadá. Después de haber presentado su estructura, analizaremos sus funciones: la subversión de los valores tradicionales, el uso del lenguaje popular para afirmar la identidad propia de las tierras del Quebec, ni americana, ni francesa, y la transformación del sujeto rural, que se convierte en urbano. El teatro burlesco ya anuncia la revolución teatral que ocurrirá más tarde en Quebec.

Abstract
Burlesque theatre has had a great success in Canada. After presenting its structure, we analyze its functions: the subversion of traditional values, the utilization of popular language as a way to affirm Quebec land’s own identity, neither American nor French, and the transformation of a rural subject which becomes urban. Burlesque theatre announces the later theatrical revolution in Quebec.
